SNAP Education
SNAP Education is a non-profit organisation registered under Section 18A of the Income Tax Act, featuring a program for children living with autism.
Its Head Quarters are based in Durbanville, Cape Town, South Africa but reaches children across our country and the rest of the world. It has been operational since 1998.
SNAP is an unique, child-specific, one-on-one, integrated program for children with special needs. It also endeavours to assist and support parents and other persons entrusted to their care. SNAP Academy
SNAP Academy offers schooling from Grade 0 – Grade 7. We also have an Independent Education Plan (IEP) class for children who are not able to follow the CAPS curriculum.
We offer our children a main stream CAPS curriculum but adapt it to the child’s specific needs. For example children who cannot write, can type words on a computer or if they cannot speak, they can pack out their words.
Each class has a teacher with a class assistant and certain children have facilitators. We have a busy annual calendar with lots of events where both parents and children are involved.
SNAP Support
The SNAP Support board consists of volunteers that are passionate and dedicated to the special needs of children with autism and other developmental delays.
They convene monthly to plan and execute fundraising events to assist both SNAP Education and SNAP Academy with funds to help children who require either one-on-one intervention or foundation phase schooling. If you are passionate about children and would like to get involved please email fundraiser@snap.org.za
What They Are Saying
Never can one say why the Lord chose your child to be special. Why it should happen to you. Does it mean that He trusts us with His special children?Only He knows the answers. What we know is that you have been chosen to guide us parents to love these children, to give hope and to comfort us when times are tough Thank you for caring when sometimes we stop. We have been on the SNAP program with our three-year-old son Pieter, for the past 6-7 months. He has made such good progress. He is a different boy. Thank you for this opportunity to continue and thank you to the dedicated staff supporting Annalies and for loving our children like you do.
We would Like to thank you and the staff, especially Delene and Tannie Annelise for all your help. It has made a great difference in our life. He is a happy boy and gives us a great amount of pleasure. It is with pride that we can say we love working with him at home in the ways that SNAP has taught us, and to show our friends and family what difference you have brought on.
